Your Backyard Birds’ Favorite Feeds!
When it comes to feeding backyard wild birds, we provide everything they need and desire. First and foremost, though, we proudly feature our mainstay full line of Blue Seal wild bird feeds. There are no undesirable seed types such as milo, sorghum or red millet in any of our mixes. Our five different blends are based on what is most attractive to birds of different habitats, which include woodland, open field, and brushy zones. (Our most popular mix, Nature’s Choice was formulated with Gene’s expert advise).
Taking formulation a step further, we love Blue Seal’s specialty mixes, two of which are shell-free. Ultra-clean black oil sunflower is triple cleaned to remove as much debris as possible- you just won’t find that degree of cleanliness in in standard black oil sunflower. We wouldn’t settle for anything less!Other Blue Seal branded products include White Proso millet, peanut hearts, and scratch feed- a cracked corn, wheat, and oat combination.
Single ingredients are also available, the most popular being shell-free sunflower which we carry in 5 lb., 25 lb., and 50 lb. bags. Other ingredients include white safflower, peanut hearts, peanuts-in the-shell, peanuts-out-of-the-shell, fine cracked corn, coarse cracked corn, whole corn (perfect for heat packs), gray striped sunflower, Meaties (part whole and part shell-free sunflower), and nyjer (thistle) seed. Ask us about size availability on these ingredients. As you can see, feel free to feed single ingredients or mix your own!
We also stock most of the Wild Delight line of mixes.
Do you want to discourage squirrels, house finches, starlings, and blackbirds? We have the secret ingredient, but be sure to feed it by itself. Ready? It’s golden safflower, and do we ever sell lots!
We call ourselves suet city because of the sheer number of varieties of suet cakes that we carry. Most popular, though, are our 3 lines of 4-way mixed cases to include C and S, Blue Seal, and Pine Tree brands. We stock suet logs, log jammers and extra large cakes. Of course, to complement all that, we have many types of suet holders.
If squirrels frustrate you, try a cage-around suet holder or hot pepper suet. This is a good time to mention that we do stock Cole’s Flaming Squirrel, a very hot capsicum liquid that is added to feed as well as Brown’s dry capsicum powder also added to feed. Birds are not affected by this for two reasons; they have beaks rather than soft tissue mouthparts plus they don’t have receptors on the tongue to register heat.
