Boosting the Benefits of Your Pollinator Garden with Natives
Barb Young of The Big Little Garden will share tips for attracting even more pollinators and beneficial insects to your garden this summer. She will discuss the role of native plants (beyond pollen and nectar) and how they host the larvae of our moths and butterflies.
You may have planted milkweed for Monarch butterfly reproduction, but do you also have the plants that eastern swallowtails need to produce offspring? What about host plants for the beautiful clearwing moth (aka 'hummingbird moth'). Perhaps your garden has a non-native plant that has little to no wildlife value. Or, even worse, it could be invading the surrounding landscape and out-competing your beneficial native plants.
Barb will have examples of native plants and their cultivars and discuss their relative value in the landscape. Barb will share ideas for easy-to-grow and low-cost plants that attract butterflies!
Come join the discussion and learn how to fill your garden with even more life this summer!
All are welcome for this free event!
